Cycle To Work Scheme

Robert with his new bike

This was a government incentive introduced in 1999 to promote health and fitness for employees and to also help the environment by having fewer cars on the road. The scheme achieves this by encouraging staff to ride bicycles to work, which the company purchases and leases to employees.

Capel Court has recently adopted this scheme and Robert Wilson is the first member of staff to take advantage of it. We believe that other members of staff are seriously considering joining the scheme too. Robert has however, cheated, electing to have an electric bicycle that can be ridden in three ways:

1. as an ordinary bicycle
2. ‘peddle assist’ - whereby the electric motor does some of the work
3. a throttle - if you feel particularly lazy and just want to sit there (Robert claims he never uses this option!)

There are very few electric bikes in this area however, sales worldwide have increased dramatically with the development of more efficient batteries to power them.
